Okay, ladies, if you're anything like me, you LOVE your scrapbooking product that you can touch and feel and would never give up playing with it, but you also love using your computer and trying to come up with ways to use some of the cool digital downloads that you can get. Even if you have never done any digi stuff in your life, big or small, I challenge you to give this a try. This can open up many options for you and help you expand your traditional scrapping options. What I challenge you to do is use a digital element somehow on a layout or card. One of my favorite things to do is print out journaling cards and then just cut them out and add handwrittten journaling or you can journal on the computer before printing it out. Cut it out and voiila' a quick simple journaling card to stick on your layout without having to dig through your stash to see if you have something--or worse take a trip to the store. Other things I have done are add digital photo edges or frames to photos before printing them out or journal on my photo before printing it out. I've even printed out digital paper when I didn't have paper that worked from my stash and then used it on my layout.

If you have no idea where to even get digital elements, here are some places to check out:

www.scrapgirls.com
www.digitalscrapbookplace.com
www.shabbyprincess.com
http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/shop/digital-kits-and-fonts/

Those are just a few--there are so many and if you have other great sites to share, you can post them here. Most sites have lots of freebies (whole kits and all) for you to download. I have a ton of digital stuff and most of it was free. I have paid for things like journaling spots tha I know I can use over and over. There are even some traditional paper manufacturers that are also creating digital stuff to coordinate like Marks Paper Company. You get the best of both worlds.

Here is a layout I did awhile back that has many digital elements on it. You're project does not have to be this digified, but this gives you many ideas of what you can do.

The digital elements I used on this layout are:

1. The window frame over the larger photo--just printed it all out on photo paper.
2. The snowflake patterned paper--printed it out on a 8-1/2 x 11 sheet of matte photo paper and then tore it
3. The letters for Winter--just print and cut them out
4. I also added my journaling on the small photo before printing it out.

The fine print: Your project must be NEW and made specifically for this challenge. If it is a layout, it must include a photo (or photos), a title and journaling. In other words, we don't want just a photo slapped on a page with some journaling and that be your layout, kwim?? Put some thought and time into it.

When your project is complete, please upload it into the Gallerie and then link us up here. (Either the thumbnail of the project or the link to the page will work.)

All scrappy challenges are due by 11:59 PM (CST) on Monday, May 18th. All scrappy challenges may be completed only once for an entry into the Spring Into Summer prize drawings.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

This doesn't have to be hard at all, ladies. You can even just print out some clipart--you don't even need Photoshop or anything for that--just word. Cut out the clipart and stick it on a card or layout--it's as simple as that. Or you could type up a title in Word (have you ever used the WordArt feature in Word?--you can make some cool titles very easily). Print that out and cut it out and voila'.

I just printed out a frame from a digital kit at DSP onto a tranparency to use for a card. Do you have to have Photo shop to use these on LOs? Can you use them with that free paint program? I have no idea hoW!!!

Janet, they do have lots of Photoshop for scrappers classes and tutorials at www.digitalscrapbookplace.com. Some classes you pay for and I think some are free, and they also have tons of tutorials that of course are free.

Thanks, I'll have to check that out. I see the potential, but it is not worth the time right now!

Janet, if it isn't something you're interested in, then it def. isn't worth the time. It can be time consuming but once you figure things out, it goes pretty quickly. There is a def. learning curve that is much steeper at the beginning. Thanks so much for giving it a shot, though, and I love your card.

I used a digi stamp for the card

Here is my card I made--using my first hybrid piece. I printed out the bird, frames, love piece from a free digital kit.
